I Just Worked Out --Now What?

Eat.

It's time to refuel. You need to replenish the main source of energy that was used during your workout, glycogen. Glycogen is a form of carbs that is stored in the muscles. Its best to eat a combination of fast absorbing carbs with a form of protein, because when you combine the two, it helps stop the breakdown of muscle--also known as catabolism.

You should eat within an hour of your workout; ideally, it would be within the first 20 minutes- you want to regulate the blood sugar as soon as possible.

Reach for something like lowfat chocolate milk, yogurt with almonds, or cottage cheese and a piece of fruit.
