We're on the eve of a brand new year, and I'm excited. I have always liked New Year's Eve because it represents an opportunity to change the things in my life that may need changing. It's my "do - over" or "mulligan" if you will.
This year's theme is organization. One quick look in my closets or drawers will tell you that I have a teeny-tiny problem in this area. I admire the people who have some sense of order, you know who I'm talking about - "the list keepers" I want to be one of THEM when I grow up. Don't get me wrong, I have tried it - list keeping that is, but my problem is I usually lose it -the list that is, in a mound of clutter, or forget it at home.
But this year, 2008, I resolve that this will be my year to keep it together. I'm committing to a file system, I'm committing to putting things back in their designated place, I will start a list, and I will take great pride in crossing off performed tasks. I will say no to a purse filled with useless receipts for cat food - clutter is on my hit list!
Oh yeah - I'm on a roll now, people. Can you feel the excitement? Are you with me? What do you want to change this year? Do you want to stick with or add to your workouts? Do you want to control or change your eating habits? I can help you with this. That's what this blog is all about. I'm going to fill it with information that I feel will help YOU stay COMMITTED to your personal fitness resolutions. You CAN do this. I know many of you are looking forward to a special occasion this year - either a wedding, reunion, special birthday, or vacation. Just think of how AWESOME it will feel when that day arrives and you know in your heart that you stuck to your commitment. You pushed through the rough days, days when you were tired, or days when you didn't want to exercise - you'll have those days. But, when the rough ones come along, picture yourself on your "special" day. Don't you want to face yourself knowing you've done everything you could do to get you to where you want to be?
I don't really have one special day this year, but, for my fitness resolution, I just want to be as healthy, or even a bit healthier, this year than last year. We are so lucky that we live in a time when we know that if we want to improve our life, or our life as we age. All we have to do is MOVE for at least 30 minutes a day! 30 minutes a day is nothing when you think about it. I'm all about stopping the aging clock or even slowing it down a bit. Given my family history of heart disease and stroke, I'm going to do whatever I can to protect myself from both. And, in the process, maybe I'll lose a little junk it the trunk…so it's a win/win!
So, what's the point of this post? Bottom line -New years is a time for fresh starts and committing to change. And if your commitment is to get healthy and stay healthy,or to look and feel better about yourself, my commitment is to be here for you. We're in this thing together, so if you feel overwhelmed at times, just know you're not alone.
It reminds me of a line in an old song -"the future's so bright we gotta wear shades"
Happppyyyy NEW YEAR!!!!!!
